Kenneth W. Petre, of Independence, Mo., passed away April 30, 2010. His wife Levona M. Petre joined him May 2, 2010.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. om Thursday, May, 6, 2010, at DW Newcomer’s Sons Noland Road Chapel, Independence. Burial to follow in Floral Hills Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Community of Christ New Walnut Park Congregation, 1137 S. Pearl St. Independence, Mo. 64050.
Kenneth was born September 22, 1921, and Levona was born November 27, 1923. They were married January 16, 1942, in Holden, Missouri and they made their home in the Independence area. Kenneth served his country proudly during WWII and is a veteran of the US Navy. He was an electrician for many years with Western Electric. Together they were active members of the Community of Christ Church New Walnut Park Congregation. Kenneth was a Temple Tour Guide for many years. Both Kenneth and Levona lived for their family and will be missed by all who knew and loved them.
Kenneth is preceded into death by his parents and 1 sister and Levona is preceded into death by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Kenneth leaves behind 1 Sister: Helen Kurtz of Squaw Valley, Ca. and Levona leaves behind 1 Brother: Victor King of Olathe, Kansas.
Together they are survived by Daughter: Janelle Poore and her husband David of Independence, Mo. Granddaughter: Stacy Newbold and her husband Chris of Boonville, Mo. and 2 Great-granddaughters: Alisa and Amanda.
